Target Audience
For the surgeon in clinical practice, training, or research.
Objectives
To (1) review optimal selection and set up of laparoscopic equipment,
instrumentation, and the surgical team, (2) increase laparoscopic
dexterity, efficiency, and creativity, (3) introduce laparoscopic
suturing techniques for more advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures,
and (4) provide methods to troubleshoot difficult access or techniques.
Course Description
Laparoscopic surgical procedures will be practiced on inanimate, animal
organs, and live animal models, and may include ligature in continuity,
pursestring suture, gastrostomy, pyloroplasty, fundoplication, cholodochotomy,
enteroentero-stomy, gastrojejeunostomy, cystgastrostomy, cholodochojejeunostomy,
and others.
Techniques include eye-hand coordination, laparoscopic suturing and
intracorporeal knotting techniques, dissection and reconstructive
techniques.
Accreditation
The Microsurgery & Operative Endoscopy Training (MOET) Insitute
is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education for physicians.
